Closing day at Del Mar features mandatory payouts in all pools (no carryover in pick 6 or super high 5), while the Del Mar Futurity and Del Mar Juvenile Turf boast potential stars of tomorrow.

Del Mar - Race 9

#12 One For Lou: Like the way he moved up when getting two turns for the first time, and he should find a decent spying spot from this wide draw. Think there is a lot to like here.

#5 Hey Nay Nay: Nothing wrong with the first two starts, and he would be a real handful here if he's able to carry that pace around two turns today. He doesn't seem to be meeting a TON of serious early burn in this group, so there's a real chance he leads the whole way.

#1 Born to Rock: He will need a move forward if he's going to land this, but he has been reliable enough through two starts while proving competitive with a couple of players he'll meet again today. Not impossible.

Race Summary: One For Lou has some appeal off the graduation run last time out, and I'm hoping he can keep tabs on the talented Hey Nay Nay in the early going to use his proven route form to get past that guy from there.

Del Mar - Race 10

#6 Fancy Facts: She caught a logical enough winner at first asking and punched home to score in that second run, and she's a good fit right back at this kind of level while moving to the main track. Think the talent is there.

#12 Christel Clean: Wouldn't be a surprise to see her handle these after turning in an impressive debut score here last month. Looks like the one to beat.

#7 Thirsty Trickster: Honest type has been a little cheaper than this in a lot of those recent runs, but her better stuff keeps her in the mix here at what should be a decent price.

Race Summary: Fancy Facts has a little appeal while moving back to the main track off the turf score last out, and she should be in the frame from the start with enough pace to compete into the turn.

Del Mar - Race 11

#2 Friendly Confines: Not a whole lot to argue with on paper through three starts, and this is a very reasonable spot to return in after the good stakes try back in March. Tough today.

#4 Broski: He finally broke through last time out after knocking on the door for quite some time, and he has enough pace to find a good spot tracking the splits in the early going. Seems like one of the ones.

#10 Spearfish: She's not a particularly likely winner today, but her local turf form has always been some of her best, so I wonder if she's worth a little look while rising off the claim. Not the worst swing.

Race Summary: Friendly Confines should be tough here if she's ready to go off the March break, as she stepped up nicely behind a talented winner last out and should be able to handle this softer bunch.
