Jeremy Plonk: Kentucky Downs Spot Plays | Sunday, September 7, 2025

Day 6 of 7 at the Kentucky Downs boutique meeting features a pair of 2-year-old stakes races. Two is the unlucky number for me this week as we've finished second 5 times with spot plays in the past 7 selections on Thursday and Saturday. Let's try to right that ship just a little with Sunday's tabs. A pick 6 carryover of $91,691 awaits and begins in Race 6.

Kentucky Downs | Race 4 | 3:05 pm ET
#12 Belle Of the Dance (8-1 morning line odds) comes off a much-improved, second-start maiden victory at Colonial Downs. Will be making turf debut for Ignacio Correas, and while sire Honor AP doesn’t have any history locally, grandsire Honor Code has had excellent numbers with his offspring here. The Colonial Downs runners continue to be the value plays of the KD meet. Win-place bet #12.

Kentucky Downs | Race 8 | 5:21 pm ET
#9 Belle of Rights (10-1 morning line odds) had a difficult trip last out at Colonial Downs and the rider change to Brian Hernandez Jr. should have her saving more ground and with a chance to flourish late. Offspring of sire Constitution show a 23% flat-bet profit at Kentucky Downs from 66 starters. Win-place bet #9.

Kentucky Downs | Race 11 | 7:02 pm ET
#3 Power of Will (12-1 morning line odds) gets a notable jockey upgrade to Frankie Dettori, who is riding lights-out at the meeting. This colt made a poorly timed moved but showed ability over the course last year when running out of steam. Dettori can right that, and this one figures to get a pressing, first-over kind of run at the leaders today. Win-place bet #3.
