February 11: Hawthorne Pick 4 Ticket

by Al Cimaglia

February 11, 2018

Hawthorne concludes the weekend with a 13-race card, the feature coming in Race 7 an Open Pace with a $10,000 purse. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 begins in Race 10 and will be my focus. The Jackpot Hi-5 carryover keeps growing and now totals $149,791.

On Saturday night drivers Casey Leonard and Sam Widgers led all pilots with three winners. Trainer Ronnie Roberts was the top conditioner with three trips to the winner's circle.

My Pick 4 ticket from last night was correct in only three of four legs as the 0.50 combination of (1-2-4-1) paid $76.35.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 10
4-Cole Heat-Last was better and could trip out and surprise at a nice price.
6-Southwind Indy-Rough trip from 10 hole, now Leonard steers, should be in the hunt.
8-Slzburgerslzburger-Has had excuses, now steps down and at 9/2 in the ML well worth a swing.
9-A Bettors Risk-Back to Ode barn but has fallen on tough times. If regains past Haw. form will be a major threat.

Race 11
2-Queens N Tens-3-yr-old can stay in striking range from here with Widger, seems to have some speed.
6-My Uptowne Girl-In form and may beat the 3-yr.-olds at a square price.
9-Cowgirl Too-Drew off versus easier now steps up and Leonard takes a seat, interesting at 9-1 in the ML.

Race 12
2-Wildcat Bobby-Roberts had a three wins last night, Leonard and can work a trip and roll by from this spot.
5-Du Page's Z Tam-ML chalk has been runner-up in 3 straight, is in good form and may finally seal the deal.
8-Frass Bluegrass-Tough post but beat similar by 4 1/2 in last and will respect chances for a repeat performance.

Race 13
1-R Duneshine-Confident wins in last 2 at this level, looks like a major player again.
6-We Rob Banks-If #1 falters, here's the main threat, can motor late.

0.50 Late Pick 4
4,6,8,9/2,6,9/2,5,8/1,6
Total Bet=$36
