Hoosier Park begins the weekend with a loaded 13-race card featuring 3-year-olds in 4 stake races that make-up the Late Pick 4. That sequence starts in Race 10, it has a $15,000 guaranteed pool with a 12% take out, and it will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on fast track.
Race 10 (8:57 PM EDT)
1-On To Norway (3/2)-There is always a chance of an upset but the Ron Burke 3-year-old with John De Long at the controls has won 18 of 19 in 2025. Unless there is a form reversal or something out of the ordinary another picture will be coming at a tiny price. The Muscle Massive 3-year-old has only 2 losses in 20 races at Hoosier and number 3 shouldn't be happening tonight.
Race 11 (9:20 PM EDT)
7-Skywalker Sea (9/2)-The Todd Luther entry is in fine form and is fresh off a 3rd place finish on Breeders Crown night. This is a versatile sort that could come off cover but has the gate speed to be forwardly placed. Options are good, and Austin Hanners should have in striking range down the lane.
9-Rodeo Drive Deo (3-1)-Finished gamely in the BC Final and was hung the mile leaving from post 9. Doesn't catch a break again with the post draw but David Miller will work a better trip. My guess is the pedal will be down from the word "Go".
10-Good As You (12-1)-Price shot has won 5 of 11 at HoP and this will be 2nd time for Lasix. Had no chance from the 8-hole on 10-24, and this will be a test. But could benefit from a ground saving trip and did roll the back half in 55.3 in last.
Race 12 (9:43 PM EDT)
2-Divine Thing (5/2)-Greenshoe filly often attracts money and has disappointed backers in 2 of the last 3 races. Gets a post edge on the 2nd program chalk so Tim Tetrick could look to take control and make every call a winning one.
4-Mega Money (9-1)-Came off a string of 3rd place finishes in Ohio and then was idle almost 3 weeks. Made its Hosier debut and raced evenly to come 3rd. Then drew the 9-hole and finished 3rd for the 5th straight time. Will look for an aggressive drive tonight at a nice price.
8-Miracle Maven (3-1)-In my opinion this is the best 3-year-old in the field earning over $447,000 and every penny coming at HoP (20-11-4-3). Left from the 8-hole least week and tried to wire the field but lost by a length breaking a 3-race win streak. John DeLong may have to come off cover to win but this filly can follow that plan.
Race 13 (10:06 PM EDT)
1-Swingtown (4-1)-The Burke pupil needs to race near the top of the stack and get an efficient trip. Ronnie Wrenn should have no issue working a suck-around-trip and then be in the hunt at the wire.
3-Odss On Outlier (12-1)-Team Wrenn price shot has won 7of 14 races and only missed the board once. Has hit the board in 6 of 8 at HoP and has taken 2 pictures. This is a test but has the speed to be in the mix again. Tightened up in the last start on 10-17 after missing a month. Will take a swing for a price and has a 148.2 mark in Anderson this year.
8-Twisted Destiny (3-1)-This will be the 3rd race after a sick scratch and Chris Ryder's top call driver Dexter Dunn takes the lines. Hasn't won in 3 races at HoP but has never missed the board. The post helps the price and has the gate speed to be put in play off the car.
10-Rick Wink (9-1)-Here is another Burke entry and this one should offer a price. This could be the best race in the sequence and Chris Page should be okay around the opening turn following the rail horse. Rick has a very good short track reputation and will respect chances coming off a nice try in its HoP debut on 10-24.
