Thursday Thoughts: Another Try for Foiled Again

Tonight, at Yonkers in Race 8 Foiled Again takes his fourth swing at capturing his 100th victory. All five races for the great 14-year-old this year have been at the same class, non-winners of $20,000 in last five starts. Foiled Again will leave from post three with George Brennan in the sulky, and will compete with seven other pacers for a share of a $20,000 purse.

To me it looks like a two-horse race, Foiled Again should get an early lead without much trouble and may get a shot on a fast track. The #1-Kept Under Wraps won the last time he was at this level and had the rail.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 8

1-Kept Under Wraps A (3-1)-From the rail at this level is a spot to shine. Maybe trips out and denies win #100.
2-BB's Harley (8-1)-Caught first over in last on a sloppy track, probably not ready to win at NW-$20K.
3-Foiled Again (5/2)-This is the best chance for win #100, gets post relief and shouldn't have trouble getting on the engine.
4-Heez Orl Black N (5-1)-Even effort in last off the bench, would need best effort to take a picture but could hit the ticket.
5-Twin B Speedo (10-1)-Drops to a better level, gets some post relief and looks like a gimmick possibility.
6-Rainbow Romance N (10-1)-This post presents a challenge with 2 chalks inside and is trip dependent.
7-Theartofconfusion A (9/2)-1st start after a rest was okay, but now post makes it difficult to get to the top of the ticket.
8-Marty Monkhouser A (20-1)-If track is fast may blast out and hope for the best, might outrace his odds.

$15 Exacta Box (1-3)=$30
$5 Exacta 1-3/4,5=$20
Total Bet=$50
