February 25: Pompano Park Pick 4 Analysis

by Al Cimaglia

February 25, 2018

Tonight's main event for wagering purposes at Pompano Park is the 0.50 Pick 4 with a $20,000 guaranteed pool and a 12% takeout. The sequence begins in Race 5 and will be my focus.

Last night the driver with the hottest hands was Ricky Macomber Jr. with three trips to the winner's circle. Trainer Jim McDonald led all conditioners with two pictures.

The posted Pick 4 ticket on Saturday for Woodbine did connect for a modest return. The 0.20 Early Pick 4 combination of (5-9-4-3) paid $30.40.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 5
2-Pedro's Dream-3rd time Lasix and last was best in quite a while, in a spot to take an overdue picture.
3-Dragon Fever-Gets post relief in 3rd start for new trainer, could be sitting on a big try.
4-Major Starlight-Program chalk takes a good drop and looks like a player versus this crew.
8-Fireball-Interesting play, was staked as a 3-yr.-old in Canada, worth a swing at 12-1, can fire out.

Race 6
2-Thumpem N-Has been racing well and drops into a spot to shine at 12-1 in the ML.
3-Annihilator-ML chalk drops, not in love with the short price but deserves respect in this spot.
5-Jamaican Cowboy-Nice win in last and it wasn't a great trip, best to not overlook chance for an encore.
6-Manhattan Benny-3rd start since claim for Surick, will respect connections, but hasn't had much luck at PPk.

Race 7
2-Pointsman-Competes and if #6 is off his game could trip out for a win.
6-The Onlyest One-Can leave quickly, should be on the engine and in control, his race to lose.

Race 8
4-Arsenal-Coming off 2 nice efforts, finally gets post relief and likes to win.
5-Ey Cowboy-Drops and Geo. Naps gets back between the pipes, should be dialed on high.
6-Spirit Shadow-Made a rare break in last and will toss. Looks like a major player if minds manners.

0.50 Pick 4
2,3,4,8/2,3,5,6/2,6/4,5,6
Total Bet=$48
