Northfield Park begins the week with a 15-race card. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool with a 14% takeout, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11 (9:40 PM EST)

2-Rocknroll Runa A (4-1)-The Larry Stalbaum horses are starting to wake up and this one is fast. Runa races on smaller ovals but might be best on big tracks. Going to use and assume the morning line is low and could be on the point or in the pocket when the wings fold.
4-Helium N (2-1)-Beaten chalk came up empty on 1-4 and has been idle since. Will look for Dan Noble to be aggressive and should be blasting out.

Race 12 (10:02 PM EST)

2-Mr Mclaren N (7-1)-This veteran was racing with Open company and Winner's Over at Stga. It should appreciate the company. Can't completely trust the program chalk so will use a couple of others in this leg.
5-AYR Balmoral GB (6/5)-Has been facing better and drops to a competitive level. Ronnie Wrenn will want to be on top or close to the lead when the wings fold. Figures to be a main player as long as the trip is smooth.
8-Trosa A (25-1)-Has won at this level and has been close versus better. AMac could look to duck and then rally. If the pace is hot the 7-year-old could grind it out and be the best down the lane. Longshot needs the right set-up, but the price is right to take that chance.

Race 13 (10:22 PM EST)

2-Big Skewy N (9/5)-Came up flat last time after winning 2 straight drawing off by 4 and 6 lengths. Comes right back, should be a better price than 1/9, and will look for a bounce back effort.
5-Lil Plugs (15-1)-Lost in a photo by a whisker at 27-1 and was driven by new trainer Braiden Rhoades. This will be 3rd start in this barn and will look for the upswing to continue at a price.

Race 14 (10:44 PM EST)

2-Sweet Alex (6/5)-Alex doesn't win often but on 1-4 finished a close 3rd off a wide trip in the 1st drive for Dan Noble. Comes into this affair with a stale date but otherwise figures to be a main player. Noble should make the most of the post relief, and started from the 2nd tier last time.
