Spencer & Carulli: Turf Paradise Bet $100, Get $10 Tuesday Promo Picks

by Xpressbet

January 27, 2026

The Frosty Funds promotion continues Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout January. Take advantage of the Bet $100, Get $10 promotion this week on Tuesday’s card from Turf Paradise when you bet with 1/ST BET and Xpressbet.

Here are the key plays on the card from Xpressbet.com handicappers Brian W. Spencer and Frank Carulli.

Race 2 / Frank Carulli

#1 Riding By (5-1): Caught on clear lead by the fave, takes class hike for new barn, moves outside in. Steps up off the claim and the top speed figure of his career. He advanced inside on the turn, opened a commanding stretch lead but lost by a nose. He drew outside posts in his last four starts but could be forwardly placed from the rail today. Bet to win and place and play a 1-2-6 exacta box.

Race 3 / Frank Carulli

#4 Miss Sundaze (5-1): In good form, tries new game for new connections. She improved upon her arrival at Turf Paradise, rallying for minor awards twice in dirt sprints. She stretches out and switches to turf for her new connections. Her sire, Karakontie, was a $1.9 million earner and upset winner of the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Mile on the Santa Anita lawn. Bet to win and place and play 4-3, 4-5 and 4-7 exactas.

Race 4 / Brian W. Spencer

#2 Little Trouble (3-1): He's quick enough to be near the top here while turning back a bit into a spot without much serious speed, and I love how reliable his recent form is. Might hammer these. Little Trouble has some appeal while likely to be racing up close here, and I'm hoping the presence of Yes He Can might be enough to keep the price just playable. Consider exotics with 4 and 7.

Race 6 / Frank Carulli

#6 Frostedbird (10-1): '‘Used hard’ after slow start from rail, shortens up, fits condition well. Frostedbird is the lone entrant to win once since the July 26 eligibility cutoff date for this non-winners-of-2 in six months condition. He rushed up after breaking slowly in a long sprint last out and tired. Bet to win and place and play 6-1 and 6-7 exactas.

Race 7 / Brian W. Spencer

#1 Dr. Ray D (3-1): She has been in OK form in those turf sprints, and she showed last out that she can hold up at a trip like this. Think it's a two-horse race today. Dr. Ray D. and #7 Platinum Diva look like the right pair in here, but I'm thinking the former may offer a touch better price.

Race 8 / Brian W. Spencer

#7 Nurse Lucy (15-1): I'd be willing to take something shorter than the 15/1 ML offering as this one goes off an improved effort last time out and gets Lasix for the first time. Any reasonable move forward in the second start back probably makes her tough. Nurse Lucy has plenty of appeal while likely to get the jump on More Trouble, and she won't have to stay a whole lot better than she did last out to make some noise here. Consider with 9 and 5 in exotics.
