Al Cimaglia: Northfield Park Late Pick 4 Analysis | Saturday, January 31, 2026

Northfield Park has a 14-race card with the $1.00 Late Pick 4 starting in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool with a 14% takeout, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11 (9:40 PM EST)

2-Century Kiss Me (5-1)-Got a pocket ride after leaving from post 2 and came a distant 2nd in a race with a run-away winner. Has battled tough winners in the last 2 races and they are not a worry tonight. Will look for another efficient trip and may have met a beatable field.
3-Okawood Dynasty IR (7/2)-The lightly raced Burke trainee is not easy to read and has been facing tougher. Ronnie Wrenn should have in play for a smooth trip. This looks like a spot to wake up, comes off a needed race at M1 and went the 2nd half in .55 with a 26.2 last panel.
5-Forever High (5/2)-Raced gamely to the wire to finish 2nd to a well-meant winner. Looking to fade the morning line choice #1 and take a swing John Ciocca has the pedal down. This could be a time to get aggressive and did leave alertly in last. Might be overlooked and could make every call a winning one.

Race 12 (10:02 PM EDT)

1-Better Double Flip (4-1)-Put in a nice qualifier on 1-21, was used a couple of times and finished off the mile. Should fit with this crew, the Edward Miller barn posts 25% winners off a layoff, and could be a square price.
3-Be My Rose N (9/5)-Drew off for a picture at Mea and now takes on better. Ronnie Wrenn steers and the Burke entry won't blush at the competition.
7-Love That Smile (6-1)-This level will be a test but the same can be said for many in this field. My thinking is Dan Noble will be aggressive and look to get on the engine. If that happens and he steals a quarter, it could be picture time.

Race 13 (10:24 PM EST)

5-Good Pride (5/2)-Faded down the lane after winning the previous start. Did work to get on the point and should be better with a less taxing journey. Went off as the chalk with Noble steering in last and now Kurt Sugg takes the lines. Should offer a fair price and this race could set up differently. Sugg has options and can beat this bunch coming off cover.

Race 14 (10:46 PM EST)

1-Sunni Red (4-1)-Won its Nfld debut last week and faces better here. But with this post draw and Noble back to steer the mare looks like a major player. Should be on the point or in the pocket right after the wings fold.
5-Pams For Real (2-1)-Took a picture on 1-17 with Noble between the pipes. Tried to bottom out the field with a .55 opening half and lasted on the point with only a neck to spare. Justin Irvine takes a seat, and he should have in a position to win at the top of the stretch.
