Northfield Park has a 14-race card to finish up the weekend. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 11. It has a $10,000 guaranteed pool with a low 14% takeout, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11 (9:40 PM EST)

3-Oberto (3-1)-Steps up but did beat 3 from this field on 2-9. The veteran knows his way to the winner's circle and has taken pictures in 24 of 76 races at Nfld. Tyler Angus sticks, went gate to wire in last and should be forwardly placed off the gate tonight.
4-Legacy Affair (9/5)-This mare has been close in the last 2 starts but didn't seal the deal. That was against straight Open company, now gets some class relief and it could be the winning difference. Justin Irvine grabs the lines and should be out and rolling looking for a top of the stack trip.

Race 12 (10:02 PM EST)

2-Midwind Beachboy (9/2)-Came off a sick scratch with an even effort against $30k claimers. Steps up to battle Open II company and fits. Came a good 2nd off a bumpy trip with tonight's pilot Aaron Merriman at the controls. Looking for a big try and hoping the morning line holds up.
4-Lake Charles (9/2)-Here is another who could offer a square price in the 3rd race off the bench. Has battled Open company and raced evenly in the last 2 starts. Will look for improvement with the class relief and Irvine has options with the post draw.
5-AYR Balmoral GB (3-1)-Lightly raced 6-year-old has raced evenly against better and is another who can benefit from class relief. Has won at this level before and should be driven aggressively off the gate.

Race 13 (10:24 PM EST)

1-U Going (5/2)-Noble is listed and he hasn't steered the Stratton entry in the last 3 starts. Draws the rail, and will look for a bounce back effort after cashing smaller checks. When this driver-trainer combines they post 43% winners.
9-Sure Thing Captain (2-1)-Using Merriman from the 2nd tier figuring he can follow Noble or the 2 horse when the wings fold. If the Kreiser trainee gets away with a good early seat his presence should be felt at the end of the mile.

Race 14 (10:46 PM EST)

1-So So De Vie (5/2)-Has been battling better, draws the rail again, and comes back in sequence for the 2nd straight race. Hasn't been in this soft in a long time and this looks like a beatable field.
7-Delray Dude (9/2)-Came 2nd versus $6K claimers on a sloppy track and now drops to the level of its last win on 1-11. Left from post 5 with Noble driving, got the top and didn't look back drawing off by over 4 lengths. Should offer a square price with John Ciocca at the controls and drawing outside. Has the gate speed to be put in play and should enjoy the company.
