Al Cimaglia: Woodbine Mohawk Park Early Pick 4 Analysis | Sunday, February 22, 2026

Woodbine Mohawk Park has a 10-race program. The 0.20 Pick 5 with a $75,000 guaranteed pool kicks off the card. The 0.20 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 3, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 3 (7:13 PM EST)

2-Beach Tour (3-1)-Has been good against this kind when starting from the inside with Doug McNair at the controls. That's the case tonight and doesn't have to worry about recent winners that cost the veteran a picture. Isn't automatic, needs a smooth trip but is a threat for top honors.
4-Nightime Dancer (7/2)-Comes off a win and benefited from a good trip provided by JMac. Gets the services of Jody Jamieson as MacDonald is competing overseas. That change may help the price and will look for a double up effort from a veteran who knows how to compete at Mohawk (73-11-4-8).
8-Delightful Leader (8-1)-Raced well at FlmD to come 2nd by a neck after rolling the back half in 56.4. Can pass horses down the lane and the pace should be honest. Will take a swing in the 2nd start on Lasix and should be a big price.

Race 4 (7:36 PM ET)

2-Southwind Domino (4-1)-Dropped to this level and raced well to come a close 3rd. Left from post 7 last week and the post relief could make the winning difference. The veteran should get a top of the stack trip and could break the ice in 2026 if close to the leader at the top of the lane.
4-Crystal Baller (10-1)-In my view Daryl Thiessen has some live drives on this card. This veteran was used off the gate last time to get on the point and then was shuffled back. Went the last half in 57.1 to come 4th. Should offer a nice price and raced better than the line looked in the 1st start since 1-4.
5-Tactical Strike (3-1)-Toward the end of January faced this kind and came away with a 2nd place finish and a picture. Drops to a spot to shine and gets a choice post draw. This should be a main player but has been camera shy and could be over bet.

Race 5 (7:59 PM EST)

6-Bettor Beast (7/2)-This is a winner of 3 straight and has been popular at the claiming box winning for 2 different conditioners. Now gets a ++ driver change in Doug McNair and joins the Bossence barn off another claim and that outfits posts 25% winners following a purchase. The win streak has a great chance to continue with a smooth trip and does leave from the best post.

Race 6 (8:22 PM EST)

3-First Filly Chip (3-1)-This mare is often in the mix at the wire and did come with a nice rally to lose by only a head. The Tierney barn has been ice cold but this gal should find a live cover flow again and last week's winner isn't in this field.
7-Tells Bells (5-1)-McNair steers here and that should help. Disappointed in last but taking air doesn't seem like a strong suit. Will look for a bounce back at a square price with a different trip.
