March 10 - Cal-Expo Pick 4 Analysis

by Al Cimaglia

March 10, 2018

Tonight's feature at Cal Expo is a California Sire Stake Pace for 3-Year-Old Fillies which rolls in Race 2 and has a $6,500 purse. The 0.20 Pick sequence begins in Race 8, it will have a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 16% takeout and this will be my focus.

Last night at Cal Expo Luke Plano led the drivers with three wins. Trainers Williams Hernandez and George Reider were tops among  conditioners with two trips to the winner's circle.

The posted Pick 4 ticket at Woodbine for Friday was good in only three of four legs. There was a $54, (5-6) exacta contained in the picks for the final leg.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 8

5 - One And Only - Won at this class on 1/20 and should be a major player tonight.

6 - Scary Harry - Will take a swing with a first time Plano at 12-1 in the ML, may surprise with a trip.

8 - Ragin's Flight - Recent form is dull but this could be a drop and pop situation.

10 - Jazzmanian Devil - Will respect Svendsen's choice over a Johnson and another Plested trainee.

Race 9

2 - Regina Beach - Even efforts lately but Svendsen should work a trip from here, post draw may make a difference.

6 - Santanna Sam - Sucked around and came through to win at 40-1, won't be a huge price but could do an encore.

8 - Art Genta - Not having a great '18, but this looks like a spot to shine, gets post relief as I try to beat ML chalk #4.

Race 10

1 - Poorlittlerichgirl - Steps up but has been sharp and from the rail should be a threat.

3 - Directing Traffic - Plano's choice moves up after a sharp win and will respect for another picture.

5 - Capitol Hill - Not Wiseman's choice but is in fine form and now gets a much better post draw.

Race 11

4 - Windsun T Bird - Roland's choice over #2-#6 usually finds a way to lose but best to not dismiss here.

6 - Sweet One - Will toss last on a sloppy track, drops down to lowest level in quite a while and will respect chances.

7 - Window Wiper - Camera shy but like #6, drops to a level for success and this is 3rd start after an injured scratch.

8 - Perfect Pitch - Drops to the same level as 1/26 win, sharp connections and will consider.

0.20 Pick 4

5,6,8,10/2,6,8/1,3,5/4,6,7,8

Total Bet=$28.80
