Northfield Park has a 16-race card and the $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool with a 14% takeout, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 11 (9:40 PM EDT)
1-Ima Beach Girl (5/2)-This will be the 4th start off the bench, has finished 3rd twice and has not won in 6 races at Nfld. Not loving the short price but needs to be included from the rail at this level. Tossed some hints last time from post 9 and will look a for an aggressive steer from Chris Lems.
5-Baxter Tough (2-1)-MVR shipper has raced at Nfld twice and hit the board both times. Won 2 back at MVR, then didn't get the best of trips and came 3rd all with tonight's pilot Tyler Smith at the controls. Beaten chalk should have a clear path to get on the point and not look back.
Race 12 (10:02 PM EDT)
1-Dublin Breanna (2-1)-Faced the NW3 in last and drew of by 7 lengths in the slop. Should be a player tonight in the 1st BSS race this year and could double up.
4-Lynn Range (7/2)-Ships in from MVR and came a good 2nd after leaving from the 7-hole. Looking for an aggressive steer and likes to win (14-9-2-0). The 3-year-old should be on top or no worse than in the pocket around the opening turn, and that trip could lead to a picture.
Race 13 (10:24 PM EDT)
7-Helium N (9/5)-Beaten chalk got a rough trip leaving from post 8 last week. Gave up the lead late in the mile and had missed a start. Last time was doubled bubbled into a 26.1 opening quarter and could be dangerous with a kinder trip this week.
8-Miki Shan N (7/2)-Aaron Merriman left on 4-19, got the lead early on and didn't look back. Raced big from start to finish, if dialed on high after missing a start could double up. Doesn't need to lead every step of the way to win but should be racing near the top of the stack.
Race 14 (10:46 PM EDT)
1-Nacho Rodeo (5/2)-Drops after leaving hard from post 8 and that trip didn't end well. The race before, left from post 9 and finished 2nd as was the case the start before. Now gets post relief, fits with this crew and is in a spot to post the 1st win of the year.
3-Logo (5-1)-Knows how to beat this kind and benefits from some post relief here. Lems could look to get on the engine, does its best work on the point and should there with this post draw.
9-Mass Market (6-1)-Raced evenly from the 3-hole, came 2nd by a neck versus this kind and was off a month between starts. Merriman steers, he is the regular pilot and when combining with the Kreiser barn they post 32% winners. Will look for a close-up seat off the car, and to be the best down the lane.
