March 17 - Cal Expo Pick 4 Analysis

by Al Cimaglia

March 17, 2018

Tonight's feature at Cal Expo is in Race 4, an Open Pace with a $6,000 purse. The Pick 4 sequence begins in Race 8, it will have a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 16% takeout and my selections are below.

The posted Pick 4 ticket on Friday was clicking until the last leg, as the (9-1-1-4) winning combination paid $191.18 on a 0.20 bet. Last night, the driver with the hottest hands at Cal Expo was James Kennedy with four trips to the winner's circle.

Comments and selections are based on a fast track.

Race 8

3 - Dickies Motel - Drops, and Kennedy is back between the pipes, has a shot in an open race.

5 - Speak English - Last was best in a while, will use off that effort.

6 - Perfect Pitch - Came the last half in 56.2, program chalk could be ready for a picture.

7 - Fox Valley Ruby - Taking a swing Lackey will get off the gate and have shot to rally late at nice odds.

Race 9

3 - Hi Ho's Little Rev - Program chalk deserves respect off the drop but can be beat.

5 - Mattador D - Needs to be within striking range at the top of the stretch, if so can beat these.

6 - A Bay Bay - Aggressive steer in last and could be sitting on a big try at 10-1 in the ML.

7 - Cenalta Diesel - Drops and should appreciate the company, looks like a major player.

Race 10

5 - Miss Banjolina - Needs the right trip but fits with these and can get first win of year.

6 - Back Stock - Faded after being used hard, may try a different plan and a short field shouldn't hurt chances.

7 - Pa's Corn Squeezin - Chances go up if can get on the engine without a lot of strain, that appears likely tonight.

Race 11

2 - Lucky Jewel - Hernandez knows best, and he is back tonight, can trip out and sweep by.

4 - He Grins Again - Kennedy's choice comes off a sharp win from 8 hole, an encore is a possibility.

6 - Crash And Burn - Plano won last and has been sharp, will respect chances.

0.20 Pick 4

3,5,6,7/3,5,6,7/5,6,7/2,4,6

Total Bet=$28.80
