Tonight, Hoosier Park is honoring Hazel Park, which in its day was a fine harness track. But like others is no longer operating. The 5/8's mile oval located in Hazel Park Michigan closed for good in 2018 after being open for almost 70 years. The Spot Plays are in Race 3, Race 4, and Race 12. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 3 (6:16 PM EST)
9-On Time Ted (9/2)-Looking for a square price and will add points as Trace Tetrick is back at the controls tonight. The pace should be lively and Tetrick could get away in a decent early seat. Then look to pick up the pieces in the late going and is usually in the mix at the wire against this kind.
9-4-6
Race 4 (6:39 PM EST)
3-Chiquita Ba-Beeman (6-1)-Took an aggressive approach to protect the rail in last and sped away into a 26.3 opening panel. Fits with this crew, and the morning line price could hold up. Might be better off staying close to the leader and then use one nice move to be the best down the lane. Has won 3 of 4 races at HoP and will look for another big try.
3-5-2
Race 12 (9:43 PM EST)
3-Tellmeaboutit (7-1)-Stayed inside 2 back and came 3rd versus straight Open company. Last time, dropped to this level, left hard and got on the engine. But the fractions were spicy 25.4-54.1-122.2-149.4 and faded to finish a beaten 4th. My take is the morning line could be too low, and Marcus Miller may try a different game plan. Has the speed to get a close-up seat with this post draw, and that could lead to a trip out win at a very nice price.
3-5-6
