To single the 3-to-5 or not to single the 3-to-5, that is the question.
The $1M Guaranteed Late Pick 4 Saturday at Santa Anita isn’t an Shakespearean exercise, but on this Santa Anita Derby Day, it’s modern-day high drama as Justify attempts to keep his unbeaten record, live up to the tremendous hype and proceed in his pro-Apollo ways.
You can’t double the cost of your ticket by adding the capable Bolt d’Oro, but if the experts of the racing world are correct, you can save some money.
Justify is worthy of the oohs and ahs and most players will be heavily invested in the chalk. The Pick 4 will run through the 12th -- the Thoroughbred finale and one before the Arabian nightcap.
Justify hasn’t raced with the likes of which he faces today, but the Scat Daddy colt signaled loud and clear through his two races that he has the chops to run in the bigs. Two wins by a total of 16 lengths with not much effort screamed his quality and there’s not much doubt that this late bloomer indeed belongs with the upper echelon.
Bolt d’Oro’s only official blemish came when he had a off-day when he was 3rd at 3-to-5 in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Most recently he was awarded the win in the San Felipe when McKinzie was disqualified. If you are sold on the 2-year-old stars of 2017 as they take another step into their 3-year-old season and toward the Kentucky Derby, take a shot at beating Justify. I have not been as impressed by the more experienced group of 3-year-old and believe the division is there for the taking, mainly by Justify. He’s a single on this suggested Pick 4 ticket for races 9-12 at Santa Anita, and here’s the rest:
