Pompano Park has a loaded nine race card set to roll with the feature coming in Race 8, an Open I Handicap Pace that has a $15,000 purse. The 0.50 Pick 4 begins in Race 6, it has a $10,000 guaranteed pool as well as a very low 12% takeout and this sequence has my attention.
On Friday at Cal Expo it was a very chalky night as only two winners paid more than $6.00. The 0.20 Pick 4 of (1-5-6-1) paid a meager $7.40. There are three full fields and an eight-horse field in tonight's Pompano Pick 4 and that could lead to a better return on investment.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 6
3-Sucrose Hanover-From this post will respect chances to stay in striking range and take a picture.
5-Grande Seelster-10 yr.old likes to win and should be in the hunt.
7-St Ladds Lotto-Ingraham's choice could be flying late if pace is hot and should be a price.
8-Agood Time To Rock-Drops and might be able to overcome the post in a competitive race.
Race 7
1-Team Captain-At this class it's best to respect and should get a trip.
2-Pointsman-Has had issues and is looking for 1st win of year, but last was better in a very fast mile.
9-Classic Pro-Bad post but best horse if ready in 1st start of year. If all systems are go it's his race to lose.
Race 8
4-Panocchio-Has a good chance of getting the top without much strain, if so will be dangerous.
6-Dee's Rocketman-Should be tighter than previous start and has been sharp.
8-Miso Fast-Sizzled in 1st start off the bench and this classy individual may stay on a roll despite post draw.
Race 9
1-Lyons Johnny-Thinking MacDonald catches a 2-hole trip and could roll by down the lane.
3-Bet On Brett-Moves up after a nice win. Lightly raced 4-year-old could be set for an encore.
7-Major Starlight-Interesting play needs a trip but is 8-1 in the ML, has won 5 of last 7 and will respect.
0.50 Pick 4
