Saturday's feature at the Meadowlands rolls in Race 6, the Escort Final with a $47,000 purse for 3-year-old colts and gelding pacers. The Super Hi-5 is in Race 10 and it has a $233,359 carryover. My focus will be on the 0.50 Late Pick 4 sequence which begins in Race 7 and has a $50,0000 guaranteed pool.
On Friday at the Big M, Andy Miller led all drivers with two wins. Trainer Dewayne Minor was the top conditioner with two trips to the winner's circle.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 7
2-Sand Artist-Has been racing well since returning from a 6-month hiatus, could step up on a dry track.
3-KJ's Justine-Winner of 2 straight loses Gingras but best to not overlook.
6-Ideal Talker-Another who came off the bench ready to roll and could be set for another picture.
Race 8
1-Santiago Style-Will toss last, broke in added distance race, looking for a big effort tonight.
3-Iwillmakeyousaywow-Sizzled in 1.49.3 on a fast track 3 back, if shows that effort could win at a square price.
4-Avatartist-3rd start for Harder and gets Zeron back, looks like a player.
7-Chip Walther-Price shot doesn't win often but banked >$146K in '17 and owns a 1.50.4 mark at Big M.
Race 9
3-Sams Triple Crown-Closed in 54.4 but 1st half fractions were soft, is sharp and Simons steers again.
4-Southern Pursuit N-Tossing last in slop, J. Pants returns, last time he drove was on the engine and rolled home.
5-Express Stride N-Luke warm favorite raced big from 10-hole and now Zeron steers, should be in the hunt.
Race 10
2-Kings Barns-Drew off by 7 in last, probably won't be as easy tonight but will respect chances for an encore.
4-Mister Indiana-Was off 15 days before last but it was a good effort, now changes barns, could be better tonight.
7-The Fire Within-Last trip was rough, Marohn could get some good cover this time and if so can roll by them all.
0.50 Late Pick 4
2,3,6/1,3,4,7/3,4,5/2,4,7
Total Bet=$54
