Peter Wrenn, whose driving career spans five decades, became the 14th member of the 10,000 win club June 19 at Hoosier Park, where he once won three consecutive titles.
Wrenn guided Blue Power to a front-end, maiden breaking victory to cap a driving triple and reach the milestone before family and friends. Wrenn also has more than $72 million in purse earnings, having made $2 million plus in seven of the last eight years.
"What an accomplishment," Hoosier Park GM Rick Moore said in a winner's circle ceremony. "He now joins elite harness racing company and we are honored to have Peter as part of the driving colony at Hoosier Park."
Wrenn won his first race in 1978 and a career-high 634 races in 2007. He won the 1994 Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Filly Pace with Yankee Cashmere, the 1996 Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Filly Trot with Personal Banner and the Jugette with Paige Nicole Q. He won seven races on the May 31 Hoosier Park card this year, four in Indiana sire stakes action.
"I would like to thank all the owners and trainers that have given me the opportunity to drive so many great horses over the years," Wrenn said. "I’ve been very fortunate throughout my career and I’ve had a lot of fun doing it."
