Friday, July 6: Hawthorne $15K Guaranteed Late Pick 4 Ticket

by Al Cimaglia

July 6, 2018

The Friday night feature at Hawthorne Race Course rolls in Race 6, an Open II Pace with an $8,800 purse. The Jackpot High 5 carry over in Race 10 sits at $129,525.70. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 sequence begins in Race 7, it has a $15,000 guaranteed pool and will be my focus.

On Thursday's 8-race card no driver or trainer had more than one win. Jim Lackey drove and trained the biggest price of the night as the #9-Rockinaroundheaven paid $83.80 to win Race 7.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7
2-Ideal Candidate-Will take a swing with 12-year-old from the inside, could get sucked around and sweep by.
6-Shakerattlenrock-Faded in last after being used hard, is a threat to rebound.
7-Officernagentleman-Blue collar competitor is sharp and always tries hard, a threat with a trip.

Race 8
1-Four Staces-9/5 ML chalk for Team Leonard is no bargain and looks vulnerable, will use but try to beat.
4-Who Do You Like-Has fallen on hard times since last year but could be a player in 2nd start for new barn.
6-Atomic Rei-2nd half in 56.1 in last but was too far back. Expecting a better trip, could score at a square price.
7-Twin B TK-Fits with these and can win at a nice price but Anderson needs to work a good trip.

Race 9
2-Cole Heat-9-1 price shot is worth a swing, has had issues but if ready is as much a threat to #8 as anyone.
8-Somestarsomewhere-Steps up after a sharp win but should like the company, looks set for an encore.

Race 10
1-Mobil Big John-11-year-old knows how to win but has struggled, this is the lowest level in quite a while.
6-Yankee Bounty-Leonard takes a seat on this dropper. 4/5 in ML, will be bet hard and should handle this crew.

0.50 Late Pick 4
2,6,7/1,4,6,7/2,8,/1,6
Total Bet=$24
