On Sunday Hawthorne has a 12-race card to cap off the weekend. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 begins in Race 9, it will have a $30,000 guaranteed pool and will be my focus.
On Saturday at Hawthorne, Mike Oosting led the drivers with four trips to the winner's circle. There were 12 different trainers with wins on the 12-race card.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
1-Thunder Dome-Closed well in 1st start and was handled conservatively, if closer at the top of the lane could surprise.
3-Seafarer- Captaintreacherous colt has faced some tough foes. This looks like a good spot but not convinced he's a lock.
7-Cuz Im Rockin-Oosting picked #3 so Husted takes a seat, could be in the mix at a square price.
1-Shooting Cool-Last two have been good efforts and will use while shooting against the ML chalk #6.
5-Island Campaign-This is a spot to shine and with a decent trip can take a picture.
1-J Cougar-Can roll late and except for #7 this is a soft field.
7-Illinimight-Back From State Fairs and with best effort should handle these.
1-Dance To The Wire-Comes off a sick scratch but was on a roll, will use in a competitive field.
2-Ringo Hotspur-Must mind manners but Leonard is back, and he has gotten along well.
4-Major Attribute-Steps up but might be rounding into form and should be a square price.
5-Talk About It-Handled aggressively in last following a break, Wilfong could get a trip and surprise.
7-Sheriff Coffey-Camera shy but Oosting takes a seat and may find a trip, has had some excuses.
