Tonight's betting menu includes the Dayton Trotting and Pacing Derby. In Race 10, nine trotters will compete for a share of a $150,000 purse. The Pacing Derby takes the stage in Race 12 when nine pacers take their shot for a piece of a $150,000 purse. Both Grand Circuit events are part of a 0.50 Pick 4 which begins with the Trotting Derby, and that sequence will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track. 

Race 10-The Dayton Trotting Derby-$150,000 Purse

4-Homicide Hunter - Gets a favorable post draw and can grind it out, best to respect, should be a major factor. 

5-Guardian Angel As - Should be on the lead or forwardly placed, likes a smaller oval and can win at a square price. 

6-Will Take Charge - ML chalk does best work on a smaller oval, major threat with a clean trip. 

Race 11-Fillies and Mares Open Handicap-Purse $18,500

2-Berazzled - Will need best effort but fast off the gate, will use at 10-1 in the ML, can compete here. 

4-Carol's Z Tam - Will respect, has been very consistent at HoP, if takes to this track will be a major player.

5-Endeavors Star - Racing well, likes the track and knows how to win, best to not overlook.

6-Juslikeaqueen - Not in the best spot but could blast out. But if not, a fast pace will help, can roll in the late going. 

Race 12-Dayton Pacing Derby-Purse $150,000

3-Donttellmeagain - Tetrick will have 4-yr-old in the hunt, question will be if he finishes the deal in a tough race.

4-Western Fame - Will toss last 2 on bigger ovals, this is a spot to shine and can be tough coming off cover. 

6-Rockin Ron - Has tailed off but can blast out and get a great seat, can't count out and will pay a nice mutuel.

8-McWicked - Fierce competitor closing in on $1M in earnings in 2018, but from this post others have an advantage.

Race 13-Condition Claimer-Purse $10,000

3-Panimal Kingdom - Shows a 1:53.2 mark here this year and from this post should be tough. 

7-Hell On Wheels - Does have a win at this class in last outing, rates an edge but post draw makes it tougher.
