Saturday, November 24: Meadowlands Stakes Analysis

by Al Cimaglia

November 24, 2018

Tonight, harness racing fans will be focused on the last big night of stakes action for 2018 which will roll at the Meadowlands. The 13-race card is loaded with eight stakes with star studded fields battling for more than $2.6 million in purses. Besides the major stakes, the great Foiled Again will make his final appearance at the Big M in Race 3.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 2-TVG Mares-Trot-Purse $175,000

2-Hannelore Hanover-Has been off a month but trained well, will shoot against the chalks with the champ.
1-Ice Attraction-Should be close to the lead throughout and is a major player.
3-Emoticon Hanover-ML chalk has won last 2 in slop, nothing to knock but on the dry big track will shoot against.

Race 5-TVG Mares-Pace-Purse $175,000

2-Caviart Ally-Has been chasing #1 almost all season, has a big shot to get some revenge.
1-Shartin N-Should be on the engine and if Tetrick gets a breather it could be win #19 out of 24 tries.
5-Percy Bluechip-If pace is sizzling this gal can grind it out and could put some juice in exotics if in striking range.

Race 6-Three Diamond Pace-Purse $391,250
1-Warrawee Ubeaut-Tough to look elsewhere after the post draw. Gingras can control things for this sharp filly.
5-Zero Tolerance-This gals no slouch and is a major player with regular pilot D. Miller between the pipes.
7-Prescient Beauty-Team McNair entry should be rolling late, dangerous if pace is hot and gets some live cover.

Race 7-Goldsmith Maid Trot-Purse $490,000

7-Stella Jane-Coming off a big win and with a similar effort it can be 2 straight pictures at a square price.
3-Princess Deo-If McCarthy can get a close-up early seat, chances for success go up, best to respect.
10-Evident Beauty-From post 10 will need a few breaks, but D. Miller can put a trip together for consistent filly.

Race 8-Govenors Cup Pace-Purse $469,300

8-Reigning Deo-If McCarthy keeps in striking range, pace should be hot and then chances go up at 10-1 in ML.
2-Captain Crunch-Should be on the lead or very close all the way around, knows how to win and has a big shot.
3-Escapetothebeach-Similar to #2, should be in contention and Tetrick may find a way to squeeze out a win.

Race 9-TVG Open Trot-Purse $350,000

3-Tactical Landing-This is a tough group of trotters but Takter trainee appears to be a special 3-year-old.
9-Marion Marauder-Even from the 9-hole, the 5-year-old multi-millionaire is a big threat and can gobble up ground in late going.
6-Six Pack-Should blast out, may get the lead but #3 may want the same. Winner of >$1.2 mill is tough as nails.

Race 10-Valley Victory Trot-Purse $435,900

8-Forbidden Trade-Needed last and pace should be quicker tonight, keying at 8-1, could be sitting on a big try.
3-Chin Chin Hall-Last race was impressive, might be peaking at the right time.
6-Trix And Stones-Won on the engine last week and could get a similar trip tonight.

Race 12-TVG Open-Purse $350,000

1-McWicked-2/5 in ML and looks every bit the part, has been in a zone and will likely take its 12th picture of 2018.
7-All Bets Off-Is in sharp form and will use under top choice and hope most use the #4 and #6.
6-Filibuster Hanover-Winner of almost $500k is usually in the hunt at the wire.

Key Play-Race 10-#8 Forbidden Trade
Top Longshot- Race 8-#8 Reigning Deo
