Today at Dover Downs the Hap Hanson Progress Pace headlines a 13-race card with the first post at 4:30 EST. Besides the Hanson which rolls in Race 10 and has a $260,000 purse, there will be four Delaware Breeders Fund Finals. The top money earning 3-year-old in 2018, Dorsoduro Hanover, with slightly over $1.25 million in purses looks to add to his bankroll in Race 10. The best of Delaware's two-year-old pacers and trotters will battle in four Finals (races 2-4-6-8), each with a $100,000 purse.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 2-Delaware Breeder Fund Final-2-year-old Filly Trot-Purse $100,000
4-Command The Day-May get some revenge on ML chalk #1, broke maiden in last and will string along.
1-Disco Soliel-Off-stride at start in last, before then a winner of 2 straight, major player if minds manners.
3-Star Time-Comes off a sharp win to break maiden in last, could be very tough if gets an easy lead.
Race 4-Delaware Breeder Fund Final-2-year-old Colt Trot-Purse $100,000
1-Just As Striking-Likes to get on the engine, now draws inside and shouldn't have to work hard to get there.
4-Rich N Royal-Jumped off-stride at the start last week, if behaves should be in the hunt at the wire.
5-Embrace The Grind-2nd time on Lasix and ML chalk is winner of 4 of 5. Scratched sick in last, tough if ready.
Race 6-Delaware Breeder Fund Final-2-year-old Filly Pace-Purse $100,000-
3-The Lady Sheriff-Should be on the lead or in 2-hole behind #1, big shot.
1-Vistamista-Winner of 2 straight should make the most of leaving from the rail in a tough race.
6-Roddys At It Again-Consistent 2-year-old can win this with a top effort and good trip.
Race 8-Delaware Breeder Fund Final-2-year-old Colt Pace-Purse $100,000
3-Chillaxin Away-Tetrick-King combo rates an edge, has been sharp and gets a post edge over top foes.
4-Keepmywiglegametyt-The other Francis entry should be out and winging, battling for the lead.
7-Dashiki-2nd chalk, also from the Francis barn is the top threat to down #3, start and trip will be key.
Race 10-Hap Hansen Progress Pace Final-3-year-old Colts-Purse $260,000
3-This Is The Plan (9/2)-Tetrick should have Burke's "B" trainee in striking range and can motor on the 5/8's.
4-Thinkbig Dreambig (8-1)-Looking for a price play, from this post can get a good seat and stay live until the wire.
7-Jimmy Freight (2-1)-Should fly off gate and so will #8. Question is how much gas is used in opening 3/8's??
8-Dorsoduro Hanover (5/2)-Winning from 8-hole at Dover has happened < 5% of time. Great year but can't use on top.
