August 18, 2017

Hawthorne Race Course rolls out a nine-race card to kick-off this weekend's harness action. The headliner comes in Race 4, an Open Pace with a $13,500 purse. The Late 0.50 Pick 4 sequence begins in Race 6 and has a $15,000 guaranteed pool.

On Thursday, leading driver Casey Leonard had the hottest hands snagging two winners. Trainer William Crone had a nice night with two trips to the winner's circle.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6
1-Delight Fashion-Too far back in a slow pace, came 55.4 last half, now gets post relief. Should be in the hunt.
4-Paco Labrock-Steps up after a sharp win. Camera shy but best to not overlook tonight.
7-Rockin Jimmy-Takes a nice drop in 2nd start here and fits well. Could be sitting on a big try.

Race 7
3-Gotta Dream Big-Racing well but like the rest finds ways to lose. Should be in the mix from start to finish.
4-Fox Valley Pipa-Hung on to win in a quick mile for a change and could be a confidence booster for a repeat.
8-R Duneshine-Thinking the pace might be quick and that could bode well for this six-year old at a square price.
10-Mar Dream-Has had 2 poor outings after claim. Comes back after skipping a start, will offer some value if finds past form.

Race 8
5-Atomic Art-Sizzled home after getting on the engine and never looking back. Another victory would be no surprise.
7-All In No Out-Thinking Oosting could trip out behind #5 and sweep by late at a nice price.

Race 9
5-Extravagant Art-Willis trainee is racing well and will consider with a 9-1 ML.
6-Major Bliss-Best may be too much for this crew and will be bet down hard.
7-Best Man Hanover-Classy veteran sprinted home in .55 in last. Will need the right trip but deserves respect.

0.50 Late Pick 4
1,4,7/3,4,8,10/5,7/5,6,7
Total Bet=$36
