In last Saturday's opening week Fun in the Sun action, 3 in-the-money finishers correctly selected 50% winners from 10 total races--last 5 at Saratoga and first 5 at Del Mar. Phillip Gordon picked the juiciest quintet of winners, including 4 out of 5 at Saratoga and the last 3 overall. That assault combined to produce a total of $299 in earnings based on $10 win wagers. A healthy field of 398 players boosted the weekly prize pot to over $6,800 and Gordon earned a hefty $4,137 of it, plus one of 10 seats at the FITS Final Table set for Labor Day.

Aner Carlstrom also tabbed 5 overall winners, setting the early pace by selecting the winners of 4 of the first 5 contest races (Saratoga 8, 9 and Del Mar 2, 3). He added a winner in Del Mar’s 5th race to finish second in the weekly competition with $292.50. That was good enough to earn him $1,723.75 plus a Final Table berth.

John Kehoe also tabbed 5 of 10 winners, and 2 of the last 3, to finish third with $289.50, good for $1,034.25 in first-week prize money.

Profitable Fun in the Sun play continues this Saturday and includes exciting Travers Day stakes races among the last 5 Saratoga heats and the first 5 from Del Mar.
