1/ST INDEX Picks for Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout at GPW

by Jeremy Plonk

October 30, 2020

Gulfstream Park West will have a mandatory payout on its Rainbow 6 jackpot wager on Saturday. Races 4-9 make up the sequence, which gets underway at approximately 1:32 pm ET. Whether you’re a regular to the circuit or dropping by for the Rainbow 6, the 1/ST BET app can help you bridge the gap with a data-driven process.

Selections provided by the 1/ST INDEX measure each contender against the 10 leading factors for each race. The 1/ST BET app looks at 52 handicapping factors and more than 200,000 past races to determine its AI selections. You can use the automated handicapping factors, or create your own factor filters to incorporate angles you prefer.

Xpressbet and 1/ST handicapper Jeremy Plonk provides his human insights to the Saturday Rainbow 6 at Gulfstream Park West.

RACE 4 (1:32PM ET) // CLAIMING // 6 FURLONGS (DIRT)

#1 // HARD WEST (9/2) // 26% Win
#2 // CONGRATS THAT (7/2) // 16% Win
#6 // DECKOLOGY (6/1) // 10% Win
#4 // YOUNG RAYMOND (8/1) // 9% Win

Jeremy’s Take: Hard West’s 26% win rate and 10-point spread are among the best of the Rainbow 6 today, and it’s hard to argue with backing red-hot trainer Rohan Crichton. The natural tendency for folks is to not narrow in an opening leg because they’ll be disappointed if they bust right away. But successful ticket construction doesn’t care about your emotions.

RACE 5 (2:04PM ET) // CLAIMING // 1 1/16 MILES (TURF)

#11 // YADI (5/2) (AE) // 24% Win
#16 // ROAD TO PEACE (6/1) (MTO) // 14% Win
#8 // ALRAHAAL (4/1) // 9% Win
#1 // AYCAPOTE (3/1) // 8% Win

Jeremy’s Take: The also-eligibles in this race look quite capable on paper, so tab the late changes and evaluate who made the cut. I found this one of the most difficult races of the sequence and the one where I want to cast the widest net of contenders. But in the event Yadi were to draw in, and Road to Peace did not, look at the 24%-9% spread and there’s a valid case from the 1/ST INDEX to take the narrow path.

RACE 6 (2:36PM ET) // CLAIMING // 7 FURLONGS (DIRT)

#2 // FRIENDLY FELLA (5/2) // 27% Win
#7 // HANDSOME PRINCE (3/1) // 20% Win
#4 // EL ZEUS (20/1) // 11% Win
#8 // VALID EXCHANGE (6/1) // 11% Win

Jeremy’s Take: A bit of a dicey race in that you have some very low percentage barns that don’t win often sending out the horses who look best on paper. Friendly Fella does alleviate some of that for a more successful trainer in Kathleen O’Connell. He’s probably is the safest choice, but is 0-6 on dirt. Find a few options to go along with the top algorithm pick.

RACE 7 (3:08PM ET) // OPTIONAL CLAIMING // 7 1/2 FURLONGS (TURF)

#2 // FLOWMOTION (5/2) // 20% Win
#6 // TOWN CLASSIC (2/1) (MTO) // 17% Win
#3 // GETTHE MUNY BERNIE (12/1) // 11% Win
#8 // RHYTHMIA (3/1) // 11% Win

Jeremy’s Take: Closest margin (3 points) and lowest win rate (20%) in any of the Rainbow 6 events, so this might be the race where you want to spread your tickets and knock in a price. Flowmotion, yes to turf; but not interested if race moved to dirt.

RACE 8 (3:40PM ET) // OPTIONAL CLAIMING // 7 FURLONGS (DIRT)

#2 // HALLAWALLAH (5/2) // 29% Win
#1 // SAMMIE SUNSHINE (4/1) // 21% Win
#5 // ADDILYN (7/2) // 19% Win
#6 // CHEZ PAREE (5/1) // 10% Win

Jeremy’s Take: This one is tricky with 8-point top choice Hallawallah making just his second start of the year and second in a row while coming off extended layoffs. He’s protected in allowance company at least while changing trainers, so it’s not a total firesale. His best beats these, and his 29% win rate is tops in the Rainbow 6 today, but it’s anyone’s guess if he can deliver his A-effort. Get a little extra protection.

RACE 9 (4:12PM ET) // CLAIMING // 6 1/2 FURLONGS (DIRT)

#11 // NENITA (5/1) // 25% Win
#5 // REITERATE (6/5) // 15% Win
#7 // SURPRISE ARRIVAL (20/1) // 12% Win
#3 // UPSY DAISY DO (20/1) // 10% Win

Jeremy’s Take: Surprising to see heavily favored Reiterate 10 points behind Nenita, though these look like the two-best runners, and absent of each other, would likely dominate the rest on the front end. This looks like a spot to single and take one of the two logicals you prefer best.
