Monday, January 25: Pompano Park Early Pick 4 Analysis

by Al Cimaglia

January 25, 2021

Pompano Park has a Monday night card with 13 races including two Pick 4 sequences, both with $30,000 guaranteed pools. My focus will be on the 0.50 Early Pick 4 which has a 12% takeout and begins in Race 6.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6

5-The Lionking As (4-1)-Was just nipped by #6 last week but that was from post 7. Now gets a better post and has been in good form. Looks like a major player.
6-Born To Thrive (4-1)-Followed cover and rolled home to take a picture at this class in last. Eight-year-old knows his way to the Pompano winner's circle winning 24 of 68 starts. Could stay good for another week so best to respect.
7-Muscles For Life (2-1)-Here is another who enjoys south Florida winning 13 of 21 Pomp starts. Should be in the mix and will likely be bet hard but did fade down the lane in last. That's not typical, usually is right there at the wire and could come up with a bounce back effort tonight.

Race 7

4-Ideal Feeling (4-1)-Steps up after being bet down to 0.10 on the dollar and was a confident winner. Not a stranger to this class and booked a couple of wins versus this kind back in November. Should be forwardly placed and could offer a square price.
5-Real Peace (3-1)-A 26.2 opening quarter was too much and faded badly down the lane. Miller may look for a different type of trip and from this post he should have options.
6-Lyons Night Hawk (5-1)-Tossing last from the 8-hole, doesn't seem to waste a lot of energy with that post draw. Looking for a big try and can get the top in this spot. Best to not overlook and should be a fair price.

Race 8

1-When You Dance (5-1)-Needs a sharp steer and a good start but could make the most of the rail. Worth a swing and may offer more juice than the morning line price. Could land in the pocket behind either of the two below.
5-Mach West (7/2)-Came off an injured scratch after missing about 3 weeks and was short. Did blast out from the 9-hole and should be better here. Usually wins or hits the board at this class and if 100% will be tough to beat.
7-Bell I No (4-1)-Faces easier and the question is how the start will go. Can leave in a hurry but not sure if will be able to land on top of the 5 or the 1. MacDonald knows well, he will need to work a smooth trip and a win isn't out of the question.

Race 9

3-Tech Titan (9/2)-Four of the seven in this field step-up and that's the case here. Miller has been steering and he's between the pipes again. Likes to roll off cover and came the 2nd half in 57.2 to capture a win last week. Should be in the mix at a square price.
5-Mighty Surf (5-1)-Took a picture at this class on 12/21 and will use here. Going to exclude the 2-1 program chalk #7 and look for Simons to provide a good steer. Does have a shot to pop with the drop.
6-Serenity Cruise (5/2)-Faces better but has been in sharp form. Won last after missing 2 weeks with a sick scratch. There isn't much gate speed in here. Plano could get on the engine and not look back again.
