Pompano Park Pick 4 Analysis-$20,000 Guaranteed Pool

by Al Cimaglia

February 9, 2021

Pompano Park has a 10-race card scheduled with the 0.50 Pick 4 beginning in Race 6. The sequence has a $20,000 guaranteed pool with a 12% takeout, and it will be my focus.

The driver with the hottest hands-on Monday was Dave Miller with 4 wins. The top conditioners on the night were Rick Plano and Devan Miller who both made 2 trips to the winner's circle.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6

3-Rock Star Melinda (7/2)-Stuck with post 8 in 2 of the last 3 starts and that didn't work well. In the other start left from post 3 and took a picture. That win was versus similar and should be in the hunt here.
5-Odds On Cheddar (7-1)-This mare is better than she has shown in recent starts and does drop to a spot to shine. Left from the 5 hole two back and will look for an aggressive steer tonight. Taking a swing for an upset at a solid price.
6-Gigi From Figi (8/5)-Didn't have any excuse in last but couldn't hold on and now drops again. Hasn't won since 12/15 but at this level is a must include. Should be there at the wire but will need to find the will to win.

Race 7

6-Tempus Seelster (4-1)-Got on the engine and was caught at the wire by #7 last week. Could leave but does really good work with a big brush later in the mile. Chindano has choices and the trip could be the difference.
7-Crisp Mane (2-1)-Comes off 3 sharp efforts and this mare may have an edge being the most versatile in what appears to be a 2-horse race. This barn has been hot and Miller steering shouldn't hurt.

Race 8

4-Gold Star Igotdis (3-1)-Gets needed post relief as the last 2 tries have come from post 8. Four-year-old mare has notched 6 wins in 16 starts at the Pomp and should be a player versus this crew.
7-Don't Chip Me (5/2)-Macomber trainee has missed by a nose, nose, and neck in the last 3 tries, all at this level. Likes to race on the point and gets the services of Dave Miller this evening.

Race 9

2-Play To The Crowd (9/2)-Left in last but was hung out from post 7 and lost all hope. Gets a post edge on the main foes and this will be the 1st time Miller steers.
7-Charms Little Sis (4-1)-Has hit the board twice in 5 Pomp starts but is winless. Looking for Jackson to put her in play early and has the gate speed to get a good seat. Has faced tougher competition and may have met a beatable field if gets a smooth trip.
