September 22: Mohawk Harness Picks

by Al Cimaglia

September 22, 2017

Tonight at Mohawk the feature will roll in Race 3, a Preferred Trot featuring eight trotters racing for a share of a $34,000 purse. My focus will be on the 0.20 Late Pick 4 sequence which begins with Race 7 and appears to be a competitive sequence.

The hottest hands on the Thursday card belonged to driver Jody Jamieson who steered home three winners. Clark Beelby was best amongst trainers with two trips to the winner's circle.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7
1-Aintsheasweetie-Recent form is dull, but top driver and strong trainer, so will consider in an open race.
5-Maxim Seelster-Swiched barns in last and won, will stick with and Jamieson is driving well.
7-Cayo Loco-Dropped, was bet down in last but missed a start. Hard to figure but is a use with these.
9-American Cheer-3 yr. old was staked, despite post could beat older as this isn't a strong group.

Race 8
2-Totally Ripped-Henry takes a spin and on drop merits respect.
3-Exquiste Glide-McNair's choice and has missed some time, but has had success at this level.
5-Adversity-Was bet on drop in last from 7 hole. Closed but was too far back, gets a better post tonight.

Race 9
2-Blameitonthenight-Was overmatched in Simcoe but fits much better in this spot.
3-Fade-Coleman trainee has missed some starts but figuring she will have filly set on "go" tonight.
7-Thewayulooktonight-Since returning to action has been sharp and could handle this group.

Race 10
2-Bad Night Mare-Back half of 54.4 in last but couldn't advance. Has a big post edge over #10 tonight.
3-Big Tsunami-Was off 20 days before last start which was okay, thinking better effort is coming.
8-Ideal Plan-McNair's choice cruised home in 1:51.2. Steps up but will respect chances for an encore.
10-Nips Beach Girl-Post is a challenge but when she gets good she stays good, so won't overlook.

0.20 Late Pick 4
1,5,7,9/2,3,5/2,3,7/2,3,8,10
Total Bet=$28.80
