Tonight, at the Red Mile Grand Circuit events will take center stage. Two-year-old colts, geldings and fillies will be battling in the Bluegrass Series. My focus will be on races 7-10 which comprise the Pick 4 sequence and are Bluegrass Stakes.
My key selection in the Dayton Trotting Derby #4-Pasithea Face S set a new track record as she crossed the wire in 1:53 and paid a solid $9.00 to win. Pasithea Face S was one of two mares in the race and had no trouble dispatching the boys. In the Pacing Derby my selection #5-Missile J had a rough journey and came third.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 7
2 - I'm A Big Deal - Has had some nice miles up north and seems to be in a good spot to shine.
7 - SomeBaddude - This colt has had seconditis and that's where I slotted him tonight.
8 - Bounding Dragon - Racing well, at 12-1 in the ML is an interesting play. Needs "A" game but can spice up exotics.
Race 8
1 - KJ'S Bekah - Looking for a price shot and will toss last break at Monticello. Could be sitting on a big try.
7 - Dance Blue - Grinding style may suit this post well. Respect chances off 2 sharp efforts, may finally seal the deal.
4 - Sansovina Hanover - Has speed, question is how well it transfers to the larger oval.
Race 9
1 - Nutcracker Sweet - Looking for an upset, taking a swing with Tetrick and colt shows 1.50.4 speed at Moh.
4 - Closing Statement - ML chalk has won 5 of 8 and 3 in row. If he gets on the engine easily it could be 4 in a row.
6 - Keystone Tenacious - Has faced some tough foes out east and usually is in the mix. Price shot is a gimmick play.
Race 10
7 - Grand Teton - Loves the track, has been consistent and from this post rates an edge.
5 - Points North - Has had a fine season out east. This is a new oval but best to not discount chances.
1 - Manverick - NY invader is a nice colt, 5 for 5. This a bigger stage and could make presence felt at a square price.
