Gulfstream West has Columbus Day Card; $19K Pick 6 Carryover

by Gulfstream Park Press Release

October 9, 2017

MIAMI GARDENS, FL – Monday’s special Columbus Day program at Gulfstream Park West will feature a 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot of $19,783.56.

Multiple tickets with six winners were each worth $2,409.88 Sunday.

The popular multi-race wager has gone unsolved for the first five programs of Gulfstream Park West’s Fall Turf Festival.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket sold, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Monday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10.

Jockey Tyler Gaffalione, who entered Sunday’s 10-race card deadlocked with New York-based Irad Ortiz Jr. atop the national jockey standings with 241 wins, notched a double to regain a slight edge over Ortiz, who was blanked Sunday after winning four races Saturday. The 23-year-old Gaffalione scored aboard On Cruise Control ($4) in Race 2 and Quenane ($6.80) in Race 7.
