Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis | Monday, October 2, 2023

Yonkers Raceway has a 10-race card to begin the week. The 0.50 Pick 5 has a $10,000 guaranteed pool and rolls in Race 5. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7 (9:00 PM EST)

1-Sport M Three ( 4-1)-Steps up but has been racing well and has won 2 of 5 at YR. The Burke trainee should offer a square price and could land in the pocket. The post edge might make a winning difference.
4-Whats Stanley Got A (5-1)-Has been in the mix in the last few starts but hasn’t sealed the deal. Was off 3 weeks between the last race and Kakaley could have the pedal down here. Could be tough to tackle if gets the point without much strain.
5-Leonidas A (5-1)-Just missed last week at this class and would be tough to leave off the ticket. Needs the right set-up and Siegelman must provide a strong steer. Willing to respect chances of both happening.
7-Anothermastrpiece N (5-1)-Tritton-Bartlett combo deserves respect and steps up after wiring the field last week. This should be a competitive race and the winner will probably be the one who gets the best trip. Willing to include because Bartlett has gate speed to use and will shoot against the program chalk #8-Covered Bridge.

Race 8 (9:20 PM EST)-

1-Mr Perfect N (3-1)-Doesn’t have big gate speed and Buter should work a solid trip from the rail anyway. Drops to a good spot to book the 6th win in 18 starts.
2-Sailboat Hanover 5/2-Dropped and popped in last and now steps-up but knows how to beat this kind. Kakaley should be racing close to the leaders at the 3/4's pole and could make the most of an efficient trip.

Race 9 9:40 PM EST)

2-High On Rocknroll (5-1)-Will take a swing with this 4-year-old who doesn’t hit the track that often and missed a start again. Hasn’t connected at Yonkers but has won and shown decent speed at Nfld. Stratton makes his 1st appearance on an Adamczyk claim and this will be the 4th start for that outfit. Stratton steering did catch my eye, he could look to get on the point and try to wire this bunch.
5-Shuffle Up Hanover (9/5)-Drops to a more competitive level and the Engblom entry has hit the board in 5 of 6 with 3 pictures. Not in love with such a short price. But is facing a few shippers and should be sitting on a big try.

Race 10 (10:00 PM EST)

2-Hecandanceencruise (9/2)-Has cashed a 2nd place check the last 3 times racing at this class. That doesn't mean a lot, but he can be in the hunt from an inside post draw. Has gate speed and the 2-1 chalk, #7 drew outside.
4-C-Bet Hanover (10-1)-Ships back from PcD after racing in the slop from the 8-hole. Previously was scratched twice sick and then qualified. Went 152.2 at PcD and now lands at a competitive level if 100%. This is Brennan's choice and should be a price.
7-Save Me A Dance (2-1)-Program chalk came 3rd in a quick mile when dropped to this level in last. Bartlett should get a decent seat off the gate and can be a player but probably at a short price.
