Hawthorne Racecourse has a 12-race card on tap with the 0.50 Late Pick 4 rolling in Race 9. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 9 (9:50 PM CST)

1-Sleazy Sister (7/2)-Comes off a fine drive by Leonard for a trip out win. The drive won the race but not sure we have seen the best from this filly, and it could be costly to overlook.
6-Fox Valley Tasha (7-1)-Was driven aggressively off a sick scratch and had a rough trip. Looking for a better steer and to be in the hunt at the wire.
9-Chickabell (7/2)-Took advantage of a soft 59.1 first half and sped away with a 54.3 back half to draw off by almost 6 lengths. The post helps the price, and this gal has been consistently good. Should be tough to beat with a smooth trip.

Race 10 (10:10 PM CST)

1-Rona Mae (9/2)-Got in a race with older and now draws a good post to be on the point or right there with the leader. The morning line choice below has been a monster. Rona could have the best shot of an upset leaving from the rail if Leah has an off night.
3-Fox Valley Leah (7/5)-Has been dominant and the price will be tiny once again. Was parked the mile from post 8 and still rolled by down the lane. Won't keep winning forever but with a decent trip it should be picture time again.

Race 11 (10:30 PM CST)

2-Clearchoice De Vie (3-1)-Steps-up after a nice win in a quick 152.3 mile. Warren is between the pipes again and could double up despite facing better.
4-Hidden Assassin (8-1)-Comes off a no-move mile from post 9 versus this kind. But the price should be right to use here. The race 2 back puts the Schrock trainee in the hunt, and had an inside post draw that night too.
5-Legal Liar (8-1)-Has been camera shy this year and comes off a wide trip in last. The journey was bumpy, but the race was lost with a tardy start. Makes the 2nd start at this class, and this will be 3rd race since coming to town and moving to the Chupp barn. Might be ready to come with a big try at what should be a solid price.

Race 12 (10:50 PM CST)

3-American Cruiser (12-1)-Faded badly on 10-1 in a needed race. This 3-year-old had good speed on the 5/8's at Aces. Looking for big price and should improve with Warren between the pipes. The others on my list to contend start outside.
9-M I Rockin (5-1)-Beat this kind in last with a solid grind-it-out trip from post 7. My guess is the pace should be honest and that could help the team Husted sophomore. Has won 2 of the last 3 since coming to town and could double up here.
10-Town Gossip (5/2)-Not loving the price from post 10 but the Hoosier invader has cashed checks against better. This will be the 3rd start off the bench since a 7-28 lame scratch. Should be a player if 100% and in the first 2 races back was stuck with post 10 and 11. Interesting play if not over bet and this will be its Hawthorne debut.
