Friday night’s loaded stakes card at Remington Park features Kentucky Derby qualifying points on the line in the $300,000 Springboard Mile for 2-year-olds. Six stakes races wrap the card in Races 5-10 with the main event anchoring it in the finale.

Horseplayers on the 1/ST BET and Xpressbet platforms can enjoy up to a $10 money-back special on win bets throughout Friday’s full Remington Park program. If your win bet finishes second or third, get up to $10 back in the form of wagering credits when you opt into the promo.

Let’s meet the contenders for the Race 10 Springboard Mile:

#1-FIDGET: One of two Brad Cox entrants, this son of More Than Ready exits back-to-back wins at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Steps up into stakes company for the first time, but has raced around two turns in all three starts. Eight of the last 10 Springboard Mile winners exited a stakes, so this one will be trying to buck the trend among three others in this field.

#2-MY BUDDY MEL: Late-running runner-up in the local Clever Trevor Stakes to Springboard Mile return rival Magic Grant. Five sprints on the ledger and routes for the first time. While by Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist for stamina, damside pedigree favors sprints.

#3-GETTYSBURG ADDRESS: Second of two Brad Cox entrants lures Flavien Prat back to ride off a fourth-place finish in the Grade 3 Street Sense at Churchill Downs. Discreetness came directly out of that same race to win the 2015 Springboard Mile. Already has managed two turns and this is a well-bred son of Florida Derby winner Constitution and Grade 2 route-winning mare Jojo Warrior.

#4-MAGIC GRANT: Upset 23-1 winner of Remington Park’s Clever Trevor Stakes at 7 furlongs, a race that produced last year’s Springboard Mile winner Wildatlanticstorm and 2018 winner Long Range Toddy of recent vintages. $300,000 juvenile purchase in March is by Good Magic, who had a dream year in 2023 with Mage winning the Kentucky Derby and leading juveniles Muth and Dornoch heading into ’24.

#5-GLENGARRY (pictured above): Unbeaten winner of the Iowa Cradle at Prairie Meadows and more nationally notable the Bowman Mill Stakes at Keeneland through three starts. Ready-made prospect by $7,500 sire Maximus Mischief sold for $150,000 in May and has already earned that back and more. Luis Saez keeps the mount for Doug Anderson as this colt attempts to follow last year’s Springboard Mile winner Wildatlanticstorm as Iowa-bred victors of this race.

#6-RAGING TORRENT: Trainer Doug O’Neill’s California-based colt by Maximus Mischief (same sire as Springboard Mile rival Glengarry) has been butting heads with elite juveniles at Del Mar and Santa Anita. Fourth in the Grade 1 American Pharoah last time behind eventual Breeders’ Cup Juvenile runner-up Muth. Avoids Saturday’s Los Alamitos Futurity at home in favor of a road trip, a venture made successfully in 2017 by Springboard Mile winner Greyvitos from the west coast.

#7-RHINO RUNNER: Romping local maiden winner over the mile trip October 21, this son of Cairo Prince will try to emulate 2020 Springboard Mile victor Senor Buscador as the only successful MSW class riser to win this race the past decade. Owner-trainer Robertino Diodoro transfers to Sean Williams. Leading local rider Stewart Elliott of Smarty Jones fame takes over for injured pilot Harry Hernandez.

#8-OTTO THE CONQUEROR: Trainer Steve Asmussen is the only conditioner in this year’s lineup to have won a Springboard Mile and he owns a record six trophies in this race. This $450,000 colt by Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Street Sense – out of juvenile Schuylerville at Saratoga winner Dream It Is – exits back-to-back Churchill Downs wins at 7 furlongs. He’ll rise from the maiden and allowance ranks, bucking the historical trend for winners of this race.

#9-THIRD STREET: Off the board in the Kip Deville and Clever Trevor Stakes, he dropped in class for a bounce-back win in allowance company at Remington Park on November 17. The last local allowance riser to win the Springboard Mile was Louies Flower in 2013. Son of versatile route sire Yoshida stretches out for the first time after five sprints, but damside pedigree leans sprint.
