The Meadowlands has a 14-race card, and the 0.50 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 15% takeout, and it will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 6 (8:25 PM EST)
2-Villiam (10-1)-The Joe Chindano trainee drops to a nice spot to get an overdue win. Draws well to race near the top of the stack. Could seal the deal with that kind of trip and has won 3 of 14 at M1.
6-Whole Lotta Lou (6-1)-This will be the 2nd start since July and should fit better here than with the NW14000L4. The trainer is off, and Victor Kirby gets the call. That pilot has done good work steering this 5-year-old at the Big M and will look for an aggressive try.
7-Stone Hanover (5/2)-Needs a top effort but should relish the company and has the gate speed to land a close-up seat. Has hit the board in 23 of 46 starts at M1 and has taken 6 pictures.
Race 7 (8:50 PM EST)
5-As Always (12-1)-Engblom entry makes the 2nd straight start at the Big M after a 2nd place finish. Chindano gets the catch driver as Jordan Stratton isn't in the house. The price is right to use, comes off a sharp effort, the pace should be quick, and this barn keeps clicking.
8-Tito Rocks (4-1)-The Cleary barn is posting 29% winners over the past 30 days and has shown sharp form in 2 of the last 3 races. The last start was at Philly versus this kind and came 2nd. Should be a square price tonight and will count on Marcus Miller to put the son of Sweet Lou in play early in the mile.
Race 8 (9:15 PM EST)
4-Nextroundsonme (8-1)-Gets needed post relief and has shown the ability to battle this kind but will need a good steer from Marcus Miller. Has the gate speed to leave, get an efficient trip and roll by down the lane at a nice price.
6-Lindys Irishcream (7/2)-This is the 4th start for the new connections and finished better in his last race. Gets a new set of hands in Tyler Miller and should be a main player if steps up off the last start.
Race 9 (9:40 PM EST)
8-Hereittiz (3-1)-Can win coming off cover but probably has a better chance if on the lead or close to it turning for the wire. If Jonathan Ahle can work a solid trip this veteran should be difficult to beat.
10-Sugar Me N (2-1)-The program chalk bested the one above from the 8-hole last week with Yanick Gingras in the bike. Andy Miller does the steering this time. Getting assigned the 10-hole makes this a challenge but is in top form. From the inside this Sweet Lou 6-year-old would be a big odds-on choice.
