Cal Expo kicks-off the weekend with a 9-race card. The 0.20 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $20,000 guaranteed pool with a 16% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (8:25 PM PST)

1-Cenalta Token (8-1)-Willing to take a swing in race with some question marks. Trainer Rene Goulet hands the lines to Lemoyne Svendsen and that move might be the winning difference. Could cash the top check with a suck-around trip and pop at a solid number.
2-Maggie Time (4-1)-Put up strong effort and bottomed out the field to take the Funicello final. Hasn't raced since 12-20 but Luke Plano should be out and rolling and could be tough to tackle.

Race 7 (8:45 PM PST)

6-All Champy (5/2)-Hate to go chalk-chalk but barring a bumpy trip these 2 should be battling down the lane.
Nick Roland has the gate speed to take control early and the beaten favorite could get revenge tonight.
7-Lous Lancelot (9/5)-This 6-year-old has won 3 of 4 with the only blemish happening after breaking stride 2 back when leading down the lane. Luke Plano knows how to get the most out of the Lackey trainee and could take another picture even though starting from post 7.

Race 8 (9:05 PM PST)

1-Ak Up N Attem (9/5)-Willing to fade the 8/5 choice #5 Winwood Jack who does drop but recent form has been dull. This is the 4th start off the bench for the Schneider entry. Did go gate to wire to down the $4k claimers in last and this field is not too salty. Svendsen could look to follow the same plan, and if he can steal a quarter it should be picture time again.

Race 9 (9:25 PM PST)

2-Jericho Willie (5/2)-Drew off by >4 lengths on a "good" track leaving from post 7 and now faces better. Does good work on large ovals and John MacDonald should have in play when the wings fold.
5-Outlawnothnbutsmrt (4-1)-Comes off a nice try at this level. Rallied hard and could seal the deal tonight. Should have a better start and Rene Goulet could work a more efficient trip leaving less work to do down the lane.
