Woodbine Mohawk Park caps off Breeders Crown weekend with a 12-race card. There are 8 Breeders Crown Finals, and the middle Pick 5 sequence starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $100,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.

Account Holders who register and hit the LATE PICK 5 (Races 8-12) tonight at Woodbine Mohawk Park can win a share of 1 Million 1/ST Rewards Points.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (9:15 PM EDT)

3-Maryland (3-1)-Normally being 0-8 at this point in the year would put me off this 3-year-old but has been the runner-up 6 times and came 3rd once. Left from post 11 in the last start at Lex and came 2nd just a neck shy of Emoticon Legacy. That was a big rally, and it was aided by the quick fractions. Starts on the gate here and will rely on Yannick Gingras to have in play early in the mile.
4-Emoticon Legacy (8/5)-Left from post 10 in the KY Futurity on 10-5 and was hung past the 1/2 that went in 53.3. The Luc Blais star had enough left to seal the deal and has now banked over $1.3 million this year. Won the Canadian Trotting Classic before the Futurity and could cap off a great season with a victory tonight.

Race 7 (9:45 PM EDT)

3-French Wine (3-1)-This will be the 4th start in the Nancy Takter barn and has raced well against tough customers. Did take some money in the Elim and came 2nd. Probably accomplished what the connections wanted, and wasn't beating Lexus Kody last week. But if Jason Bartlett provides a sharp steer a picture could happen this time.
5-Lexus Kody (6/5)-This 7-year-old turned into a monster this year banking over $1.5 million. The Ron Burke veteran has stayed good for a lot longer than seemed possible. Has won 6 straight and if he shows up with its fastball the win streak should continue. But this will be race #20 on the year and will use a couple of others just in case he gets leg weary down the lane.
7-Periculum (5/2)-Winner of 2 straight has been off since 10-5 but did qualify well on 10-17 at Wbsb. Has won 3 of 9 at Mohawk and owns a win back in early August against the morning line choice. The Marcus Melander trainee can stalk and roll by late. Best to respect because Scott Zeron knows that script and this race could set up for a closer.

Race 8 (10:15 PM EDT)

3-Prince Hall Hanover (4-1)-My take is if Louprint gets a fair trip this the only horse that can beat him. Even then it may not happen, but Todd McCarthy shouldn't have an issue getting on the point. Will respect chances of an upset as the Dr Moore entry does nice work at Mohawk (9-3-5-0).
8-Louprint (6/5)-There are races where the Burke pupil looks like it isn't putting out full effort. It took a bit to realize this horse has an effortless gate. It can go so fast and looks so fluid. Last week, it seemed like he was trying to win but maybe the son of Sweet Lou didn't come with an all-out effort. Time will tell how much is left in the tank, for now if Lou brings his best race it should be picture time.

Race 9 (10:45 PM EDT)

3-Captain Albano (3-1)- My take is the Captain was the best last week but got jammed up down the lane and that cost the win. This is a tough crowd, but with a smooth trip he has a big chance to cash the top check.
5-Erwin Hanover (2-1)-The Dave Menary trainee has won 10 of 19 at Wbsb and is having a big year banking over $750,000. The versatile 5-year-old can win in different ways as Dexter Dunn drives in his 2nd straight and he has options when the wings fold.
6-Coaches Corner (15-1)-Will swing for a price who has a big heart and is 0-5 at Mohawk. The post position gods have not smiled on the Per Engblom trainee in Canada. In the last 3 races here it has left from posts 9-8-8. Tonight, draws the choice slot and Bartlett could provide a smooth trip. Using on the ticket and could add some pop to the gimmicks.

Race 10 (11:10 PM EDT)

2-Bythemissal (5/2)-Went off at 15-1 last week and raced like it finishing 7th. Did make up ground in the last half but was never a threat and now meets a beatable field. Should be a main player if in top form, but that is usually hard to predict. Gingras will have the champ in play off the car if it is go-time.
3-Funtime Bayama (4-1)-The morning line price could be low, but the Andrew Harris trainee has been in tough in the last couple of races. Form has been dull in general in the last 4 starts. But this could be wake-up time, because the 4-year-old usually shows up on this oval (18-8-4-2).
7-Redwood Hanover (10-1)-The Yonkers shipper could be overlooked but does know how to win on big tracks too. Has hit the board in 21 of 38 at Wbsb (38-9-4-8) and has 149.0 mark here as a 3-year-old. Has good gate speed, Bartlett should have the pedal down and a close-up seat off the car isn't out of the question.
