Al Cimaglia's Sunday Pompano Pick 4 Ticket

by Al Cimaglia

April 8, 2018

The Sunday night feature at Pompano Park rolls in Race 8, an Open I Pace with a $15,000 purse. The 0.50 Pick 4 sequence begins in Race 8 and has a $30,000 guaranteed pool with an industry low 12% takeout.

The posted Pick 4 ticket at Cal Expo on Saturday night came apart in the opening leg when the #4-Cruisin For You lit up the board with a $67.20-win mutuel. That horse was off my radar and was the price shot which keyed the payout as the other legs were more formful. The 0.20 combination of (4/2/5/4) paid $253.

Comments and selections below for tonight's Pick 4 are based on a fast track.

Race 6
1-Lyons Johnny-Has been flat but this is a drop and pop situation.
3-Arsenal-Gets back to a typical 1-mile race, has gate speed and fits.
5-Pointsman-Another at a more comfortable level and with this post should be able to get a nice seat.

Race 7
1-Uncle Reimus-Drops and gets a good post draw, should be in the hunt.
2-Bestinthebusiness-Another dropper and has faced Open company will respect versus this crew.
3-Respectable Dream-Steps up and is camera shy. Although form doesn't scream bet me it's best to respect.
4-An The Thunderolls-4-yr.old steps up after a 56.3 last half win, will use at 8-1 in the ML.

Race 8
4-Panocchio-Just missed in a 51.1 mile, likes to win and should be a player tonight.
5-Dee's Rocketman-In form, great post draw and is the one to beat.
6-Miso Fast-Comes off the bench after 2 nice qualifiers. May need one but now's the time to get a square price.

Race 9
3-Rock N Row-Hennessey's back, and from this post at this class it's best to respect.
4-Blueberry Heaven-Looking for an overdue win and last was better, will take a swing for a price.
5-Cool Like Fire-MacDonald picks-up the catch drive in 3rd start off the bench.

0.50 Pick 4
