by Al Cimaglia

November 17, 2018

Tonight, at the Meadowlands Grand Circuit action is front in center. The Valley Victory Eliminations roll in Race 1 and Race 4 with the top five finishers returning next week in the $435,900 Final. Ten freshmen pacers take the stage in the Governor's Cup Elims which is carded as Race 7. The top seven finishers will be back next weekend to battle in the Final for a piece of a $469,300 purse.

Besides the three eliminations, comments for the sixth race are also posted. I will be looking to keep things going as last night's Big M Pick 4 ticket connected. It was a modest profit on the Pick 4 but there was also a $38 winner in the selections for Race 10.

Last night the pilot with the hottest hands in East Rutherford was Andrew McCarthy with three winners. Trainer Kyle Spagnola led the conditioners with two pictures.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 1-Valley Victory Elimination-2-year-old colts and gelding trotters-Purse $20,000

4-Trix And Stones-Mohawk invader draws well and if track is dry, looking for an aggressive try at a square price.
7-Hudson River-Sears will need to find live cover and hope the pace is quick, should be rolling late,
6-Battenberg-Got on the engine and didn't look back, this won't be as easy but best to not overlook.

Race 4-Valley Victory Elimination-2-year old colts and gelding trotters-Purse $20,000

2-Reign Of Honor-Soft pace hurt in last, probably won't be the case tonight, big shot at 9/2 in the ML.
5-Super Schissel Consistent Takter trainee and Gingras should keep in striking range.
7-Forbidden Trade-Winner of 7 in 9 tries north of the border, may need a start and race from back of the pack.

Race 6-N/W $15,000 last 5-Purse $16,000

7-Music Is Art-Very sharp and has done good work at the Big M, rates an edge with Tetrick.
3-Ghost Pine-Steps up after a sparkling win, missed a start but still using, may provide some pop to gimmicks.
1-Rockn Motion-Pet Rock 3-yr-old faces a tougher task after a nice win, best will respect chances for an encore.

Race 7-Govenor's Cup Elimination-2-year-old colts and geldings pacers-Purse $20,000

4-Reigning Deo-Taking a swing sharp form carries over to the big track, McCarthy steers and that won't hurt.
5-Escapetothebeach-2nd ML chalk probably will be out and winging, should be right there at the wire.
8-Captain Crunch-ML favorite has had a big year, thinking Zeron will save some gas for next week from this post.
