Tonight's feature at Mohawk Park rolls in Race 8, a Preferred Trot with a $34,000 purse. The 0.20 Pick 5 starts the card and last Monday night the pool was over $104,000. The Early Pick 4 sequence begins in Race 4, it has a $50,000 guaranteed pool and will be my focus. 

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track. 

Race 4 
1-Phantom Seelster-Winner of last 2 has been sharp, draws well again but has been off since 11/16. 
2-Foot Soldier-Luke warm favorite deserves respect, comes off a win but needs best for an encore. 
7-Hilltop Ginger-NY invader was on a smaller oval, was McClure's pick over #3, 1st start for Gillis and 6-1 in ML. 
9-Legal Power-Faded in slop but has the gate speed to get a good seat tonight and Roy should have in the hunt. 

Race 5 
2-Marquis Volo-Taking a swing for a price, has had excuses but can compete here and win with a good steer. 
4-PL Jill-Tossing last in the slop, is a major player if minds manners. 
5-Try Try Again-Price play has faced better, needs a trip but 4-yr.-old stays trotting, and this is a better spot. 
9-Il Sogno Dream-Post makes it tougher but raced big in last and probably would have won but hooked wheels. 

Race 6 
1-Veyron-Doesn't win often but will respect connections after fading in last, does come back in 7-days. 
5-What Chapter-7-time winner was odds-on choice in last and faded, usually in the hunt and will respect chances. 
7-Fly Beyond-Game winner of last 2 steps up, this will be a test, but McNair should keep in play. 

Race 7 
2-Larrys Petrock-In good form and if pace is hot chances go up, likes to motor in the back half. 
7-R Bazingga-Big M invader has won last 2, McNair steers, has good speed and may be up to this challenge. 
8-Rocky J Squirrel-2nd ML chalk, Roy-Moreau combo could be dangerous with the right trip.
