August 11: Mohawk Harness Pick 4 Picks

by Al Cimaglia

August 11, 2017

Tonight at Mohawk the headline event is in Race 8, a Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace with a $30,000 purse. The early .20 Pick 4 begins in Race 4 and is an interesting sequence that I will focus on.

On Thursday, drivers Trevor Henry, Louis Roy, Randy Waples and Doug McNair all had two wins. No Mohawk trainer took more than one picture and it was a good night for chalk players. Seven of the ten winners paid less than $6.00.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 4
1-Lively Freddie-Usually not a big track horse but fits. Thinking Jamieson will stay up close and should be in the hunt.
2-McSinner Man-Last wasn't bad and makes 2nd start for Auciello. Gets post relief and could be even better tonight.
3-Rockin Ronnie-Gets a much better post and usually competes. Program favorite needs to be respected.

Race 5
6-Artistic Madison-3rd start for Auciello, drops and can close well. Drury gets a turn, and could be sitting on a big try.
9-Rubis Prescott-Has been facing better and best effort can be enough for a picture. Needs a live cover flow.

Race 6
2-Ionia-Roy gets a swing tonight in a hodge-podge race. Interesting group and if minds manners can surprise at a nice price.
3-Literally-Chased Hill Yes to the wire, now has a big post edge and could even the score.
8-Zlatan-4-year old gelding was used hard from 10 hole and came up short. This time starts inside of #10.
10-Hill Yes-Put down a 56.3 last half and won with broken equipment, will consider despite the outside starting slot.

Race 7
2-Sports Legend-55.2 back half and came 1 length short. Starts inside of top foes and could be overlooked at the windows.
8-Goth Hanover-Raced well from 9 hole in last and was off 13 days. Roy's choice over #2 and #4, has a big shot.
9-Jimmy Freight-Post makes it tougher no doubt but is a perfect 6 for 6 lifetime. Sportswriter colt shouldn't be overlooked.

.20 Early Pick 4
1,2,3/6,9/2,3,8,10/2,8,9
Total Bet=$14.40
