Pompano Park Hi-5 Analysis-Mandatory Payout

by Al Cimaglia

January 19, 2021

There is a mandatory payout at Pompano Park for the Jackpot Hi-5 which is slated for Race 11 and has a $121,771 carryover. My handicapping of the race will not include a ticket as there are many possibilities and much depends on your individual budget.

This race could offer a big payout because there are not many who appear unlikely to hit the ticket. The 2-5-10 may have the best chance of taking a picture. The 7-8-9 should offer nice prices and could hit the board or at the very least occupy the 4-5 slots. My ticket will be influenced by how the track is playing as well as what drivers and trainers are having a big night.

Comments below are based on a fast track.

Race 11-Super Hi-5 Mandatory Payout

1-Dont's Chip Me (7-1)-Hasn't raced since 1-7 after being a sick scratch, was facing NW3 and now steps-up. Does have decent speed but is only 1-23 since 2020. Not a win candidate but a possibility for the bottom of the ticket.

2-Lt Col Je Leonard (3-1)-Took a picture in 1st Pomp start off a very nice pocket trip. Five-year-old has only raced 9 times, all at PPk and does have 4 wins. This is a bump up in class, but Holiday will probably leave and could trip out again.

3-Gold Star Igotdis (5-1)-Florida bred 4-year-old was tough on local competition hitting the board in 10 of 12 starts at the Pomp with 5 wins. This gal hasn't raced since 12-20. Might be using this race as a tune-up for an upcoming Florida bred contest??

4-Yankee Jubilee (9-1)-This mare picked up her 2nd win since 2020 last week on a sloppy track. Miller steers but this doesn't appear to be a top of the ticket possibility.

5-Skyway Venus (6-1)-Hoosier Park invader notched 1st PPk win last week at this class and has hit the board in 3 of 5 starts in south Florida. Comes off a much-improved effort and best to not overlook.

6-Friskie Jolie (15-1)-Appears to be a notch below the rest of this field and is an outsider to hit the Hi-5 ticket.

7-Sunrise Hanover (12-1)-Has cashed checks in all 4 Pompano starts since shipping in from Yonkers. Left and got on the engine in last and faded down the lane. That's not her usual route, may revert back and rally off cover tonight. Using and thinking this mare will outrace her odds and add some juice to the payout.

8-BNB (10-1)-It will be a tough task to win from this post and hasn't taken a picture in at 8 tries at the Pomp. But this 4-year-old is a check casher hitting the board in 15 of 20 races in 2020 and will use underneath.

9-Even Louder (20-1)-There are reasons to eliminate from the top spot but it's best to be careful. This mare and #1 have the best gate speed. Neither would be my choice to win but if gets an easy lead, stranger things have happened. Like many others, is difficult to eliminate from hitting the ticket and could be a juicy price. Could race off cover as well.

10-Mach Me Onemore (9/2)-Hennessey's choice instead of #6 and sticks with the Beckwith barn. Could get a decent seat if #1 leaves with some speed and comes off her best effort at the Pomp in 6 starts. Using up and down the ticket.
